An Unexpected Story

I had complete creative freedom with this commission, and what a beauty it was to create.

This piece is paired with a deeply personal love story and this piece created to reflect that story back to the clients in a way that feels entirely their own. It’s a story of healing, of finding one another, and of two lives coming together in a way that created something unexpected and beautifully unpredicted.

The artwork holds that private story within it that the clients will recognize and always share together. To another viewer, it may simply be a piece of art, but to those who know the origins, there is an entirely different story woven beneath the surface.

MY ART

She Waited

This was a personal piece I was worked on, off and on, for years. I would randomly return to her from time to time, drawing a little bit here and there. By the end, we ended up spending a lot of time together and I genuinely developed a connection with her, and she waited a very long time to be completed. A loyal companion.

I had a difficult time parting with her, but her owner loves her just as much as I do. I would have never of let her go otherwise.

I reminded myself that art should be seen. If she stayed with me, she probably would have stayed in my sketchbook forever. In her new home, she gets to see the world and constantly be appreciated for how special she is.

She's a beauty.

Favourite Tree

I created this piece as a gift. This tree is an actual tree that exists in the real world, it's the recipients favourite tree.

He passed by it a daily basis, for years, and watched it change through the seasons. Always steadfast, always there.

However, like everything, life changes and it moves fast. Nothing is permanent, and even this tree's story will end. I wanted to him to be able to keep it, and keep seeing it everyday.

It turned out to be the perfect gift, and unexpectedly brought tears.

The power of art still catches me off guard, and I will always appreciate that.
